But before talking about quantity, you have to talk about the characteristics and quality of these leads; about what makes them a good prospect.<\/p>\n<p>Also, how many leads per month, per semester, per year do you need to achieve your goals, to attain your sales and opportunity objectives?<\/p>\n<h2>4 key questions<\/h2>\n<p>To be effective at prospect generation, you have to answer these four fundamental questions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>What <strong>market<\/strong> <strong>or market<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/exob2b.com\/en\/blog\/segmentation-in-b2b\/\">segment<\/a> is your offer for? How big is the segment? How is its <a href=\"https:\/\/exob2b.com\/en\/blog\/resellers-vars-agents-b2b-distribution\/\">network of intermediaries structured<\/a>? Are there any obstacles to getting in? What are the key success factors? What is the market perception of your offer and those of your competitors?<\/li>\n<li>Who are your potential buyers and what is their <strong>buying cycle<\/strong>? What motivates their purchases and what unmet needs do they have? How can you reach them effectively? Through what online and traditional channels, and with what value proposition?<\/li>\n<li>Who are your <strong>competitors<\/strong> and where do they come from (strategic business area, region)? How does their marketing, sales, services and product development perform? What are their strategies, their strengths? Do they have notoriety?<\/li>\n<li>Are you launching you offer into a technologically, economically, sociologically and legally prosperous <strong>environment<\/strong>?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once you analyse the answers to these 4 questions, then you can develop <a href=\"https:\/\/exob2b.com\/en\/blog\/distinguishing-strategy-and-tactics-in-marketing-and-b2b-sales\/\">strategy and tactics<\/a> to generate leads.<\/p>\n<h2>Generating quality prospects<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/exob2b.com\/en\/blog\/tips-generating-quality-leads-b2b\/\">Lead generation<\/a> requires that you establish and execute of a set of tactics. Although a website <a href=\"https:\/\/exob2b.com\/en\/blog\/improve-your-chances-of-being-googled-by-your-prospects\/\">optimized for search by keywords (SEO)<\/a> is essential, content marketing <a href=\"https:\/\/exob2b.com\/en\/blog\/inbound-marketing-leads-in-b2b\/\">(inbound) <\/a>is a must.<\/p>\n<p>It would also be a mistake to underestimate the <a href=\"https:\/\/exob2b.com\/en\/blog\/how-to-successfully-launch-a-b2b-product-abroad\/\">direct approach<\/a>, either though print, telephone or in person at industry events.
