Universal Analytics is no longer in beta version

Following up on a blog artice I had written in November 2013: Universal Analytics, what comes after Google Analytics, the Google Analytics code, ga.js will  no longer be functional as of April 2016.

For the moment, Google makes it possible for us to migrate, even in the Universal Analytics version, but soon enough the migration will be done automatically.

It will be important to modify the tracking codes on each page of your website. Be sure to allow yourself enough time to do so.

In addition, it is important to mention that Universal Analytics is no longer in beta version. Therefore, features such as remarketing campaigns, online campaigns or demographic and interest reports are now supported.

When you decide to configure your Google Analytics account to its new version (Universal Analytics), there are several ways of doing it, whether if you have never installed Google Analytics on your site or if you already have a traditional account.

If you have never installed a traditional version of Google Analytics, we suggest installing the Universal Analytics version immediately. On the other hand, if you already a version installed on your web site, there are two steps to take to prevent the loss of data:

Step 1: Transfer of your property

For this stage, users who have administrator rights can execute the transfer of the property. This process can take from 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, you can move on to step 2.

Step 2: Updates to your tracking codes

This step is carried out by a programmer or the person who manages the website codes. It consists of replacing the tracking code present on all your web pages with the new code in analytics.js format. When this is done, the new data will be of better quality and it will be possible to then reap the benefits of Universal Analytics.

At Exo B2B, we made sure we had enough time to make these major changes and to be able to improve our analysis. And you, when do you plan to migrate to Universal Analytics?
