Everyone wants to be well ranked on search engines. To do this, it is important to start a ranking strategy early in the design of your website.
A ranking strategy is composed of three steps: optimizing on a technical level, optimization in terms of content and optimizing with links.
Optimizing on a technical level
This step is about the structure of the site. Google will see what is important in the site and what is not.
Initially, we optimize the title tag. You have to put as many keywords in it as possible, keeping in mind that this is the title that will be seen on search engines; it must encourage clicks. Obviously, the title must match the content.
Then, the H1, H2 and H3 tags are optimized. They correspond to the title and subtitle of the document. Google gives more importance to keywords in these, compared to the rest of the text.
Subsequently, meta tags and meta descriptions need to be optimized. The meta descirption is used to replace the text presented under the title of the page on search engines.
Furthermore, you can optimize robots.txt, <strong> and Sitemap. The <strong> formatting allows you to make keywords bold and tells the engine that the words are a little more important than others.
Sitemaps help to speed up indexing, while the robots.txt files specify which pages need not be indexed.
Optimization on a content level
In this step, we optimize the content sought out by internet users.
First, look for the keywords that are most used; those who are most likely to be found on search engines. Second, check if they are used frequently by your competitors. To find the right keywords, you can refer to my previous article: various solutions and tools to find keywords to optimize a website.
Optimization with backlinks
During this step, Google measures the usefulness of the content by performing quantitative and qualitative analyzes of links that point to the content.
First, look for lists, forums, directories with a link to the themes or, products on new websites are created.
Then, enter the business in directories and specialty sites and promote it via a press release and social networks.
Also, it’s optimized by creating internal links or backlinks to the pages of the site.
Finally, we follow the progress of the new site through search engines by installing a monitoring positioning tool. In a future post, I will discuss the tools to use for the most efficient positioning.
